Mood: disgruntled

A (not so) Speedy guide to the chaos that is the current status of deviantART, and an obvious idea of my position ( i want answers. i support jark, because i support this community, and i support this company; as a means to keeping the community alive. )

Update Log.
  - 08.10.05 - added new journals, corrected placement of tobyf.

What Started This:
  - Jark's Story. - How dA began, as the co-founder remembers it, since before we knew it was coming. a must read.
  - Jark's Email - When Jark noticed something was wrong, he asked for information, this led to...
  - Jark's Termination - Scott tells us what he can of what exactly went down, and its an appalling bit of news.
  - Jark's Response, #1 - Scott pleas for community action.
  - Jark's Response, #2 - Scott gets a little hot, but gives time to praise those who try hard to be a part of this wonderful little community he worked so hard to make happen.
  - Jark's Response, #3 - Scott reminds us to focus on the most important part, a calm but resilient and dissatisfied response to the current state of affairs in deviantART.
  - The Missing Conversation - a deleted conversation in comments, between jark and liquisoft. (warning, large screenshot!)
  - The Emails. - provided by 'probingthetruth' blogspot, is a database of most of the emails leading up to the events at hand.
  - Staff Forum Leak - a somewhat disturbing conversation had by staff over what is going on, i warn, its a lil choppy, apparently pasted together screenshots.
  - Spyed's (Angelo's) Journals - while not particularly informative in regards to the issues, important to read, particularly the comments on them.

  - a Flicker account - full of very informative, entertaining, appaling, and otherwise, screenies from this ordeal.
  - a Conversation with Spyed - a conversation i had with angelo "spyed" sotira in 2002.
  - an Old Termination Letter - this was sent out to twelve staff members in 2004, there are similarities in how it happened then, to how it happened to Jark.
  - Old Organizational Chart - this is a late 2004 chart of how staff breaks down in dA, presented for informational purposes, no longer 100% accurate.

The Current Staff's Response:
  - Firelite, Gallery Director - gets a little angry after taking a certainly overwhelmingly large amount of reading materials to get caught up on what's going on.
  - Serpentinekiss, Gallery Director - is at a lack for answers, and is as much at a want for them as the average user.
  - AchFoo, Prints Staff - gives us his simple opinion.
  - crazyleafhead, m.n. op - sends her heartfelt condolences and farewell to Jark.
  - ekud, staff forever - tells us what he thins of scott, and offers a heartfelt goodbye.
  - liquisoft, $core admin - reminds us that this site isn't right without a little yellow in it, and expresses condolences.
  - mirrorkills, p.v. staff - knows that something hasn't just changed, but is still changing, due to all this.
  - mkinne, staff addict - long ago gave us a haunting question that is only weird to read today. yes, this was in 2004. (his current thoughts)
  - mikeylove, $core admin if anyone knows the story, its mikey. and he presents it, and his thoughts on it. !Must read!

Former Staff's Response:
  - Matteo, Co-Founder - is drooling on himself with anger, but keeps himself short and to the point. ..Matteo was fired long ago, his journal in response to that was this.
  - Arc, former $core admin - free of the restraint of the heinous NDAs running around like elves, tells us how he remembers deviantART happening, and his opinion of the current events.
  - Dygel, former $core admin - although terminated before these events, has his own view of things.
  - Tack, former $core admin - just plain gets up and leaves in disgust, sadness, who really knows.
  - FusionRock, former staff - lets us know where he is on this position, and provides some screenies.
  - BornGhost, former staff - gives us his thoughts and feelings on what has happend.
  - mp3chuck, former staff - gives us an oddly related story, song, and some interesting links throughout. must read! (and more! )
  - voodoo-prophet, former staff - the once dominator of irc shows us he's not too happy, but he's still here.
  - neom, terminated staff - reminds us how it used to be, and how it should be.
  - inennui, former staff - there's nothing here, but they are no longer staff, and no longer have deviations.
  - phae, former $core - is quite sad, and underlines the point, we're missing a huge piece of us now.
  - itirep, former staff - is not even recognized for services as staff, and has plenty to say. must read from a must know deviant.
  - zlim, former staff - also not recognized for his services, but offers us his thoughts from each day of this ordeal.
  - chad, former staff - of dA and dM, he's been here since the dawn of time, and has a few interesting logs from staff/admin here. (nothing shocking.)
  - - one of dA's best known characters puts her thoughts and allegiance forward.
  - tobyf, former help desk staff - leaves us for unrelated reasons.

Staff Resigning over Jark's expulsion;
  - twosilverstars, former artists relations staff - resigns sadly, in reaction to the state of these events.
  - blue-six, former m.n. staff - simply resigns under the weight of things that have happened, and later talks a little
  - brazensix, former $core - resigns, and not in the happiest of words does he do it, either.
  - bzed, former staff - leaves amidst all the events in whole, and seems a little worse the wear.
  - cassed, former staff - was amidst staff not very long, but even so felt the situation too much to stay in place.
  - hypermind, former staff - gets up and gets out, all the way around really.
  - jasonvelocity, former staff - says the most with the least words possible, amen.
  - omniomi, former staff - gets a little hot, and leaves the staff behind.
  - velociraptor, former staff - simply resigns under the events and his workload outside the site.
  - radiositysg, former staff - leaves in response to spyed's handling of affairs.
  - zeros-elipticus, former staff - also has left the staff, but is devoted to this community and staying with us.
  - dj-designs, former staff - the art man himself has left, dA wont even LOOK the same now.
  - euphoria, former $core - a long time admin resigns, with scathing words towards former co-workers.
  - alchemism, former staff - not just former staff, but long time member, simply resigns with a short comment.

  - shelly, 4 year member - doesn't just give us her opinions, but empties out her deviations.
  - point-blanc, 3 year member - gives us a very straight forward opinion in this deviation.
  - blackzer0, 3 year member - makes an analogy of deviantART, and a sensible demand of the community
  - onestar, 4 year member - provides us a few means of protest and guidance.
  - krash, 4 year member - one of the best known members has plenty of thoughts and things to say.
  - killjoy, 5 year member - how i remember the site, my opinion of then, now, and what this means to our future (off-site)
  - mountainhawk, 3 year member - was demoted from senior membership, and is not very happy over this.
  - deviot, 4 year member - was banned over his thoughts and information he helped provide.
  - r00t, 4 year member - provides a little bit of a reality check for people.

  - bleeding-dragon, new member - maintains a relatively neutral but insightful opinion here, and asks the right questions.
  - khrass, 2 year member - makes a simple but strong point in this journal ; "only if jark does".
  - breakbeat, 2 year member - brings up an old email he sent staff, and places his support.
  - hyper-psycho, 4 year member - points out various things, formulates an opinion, and provides handy links

Off-Site Response:
  - JoeUser, blogsite - doesn't buy this either, and they don't even do art!
  - WinCustomize, skin site - provided this link, an archived version of deviantART's contact page, to combat the lies.
  - Wikipedia, online encyclopedia - provides a lengthy history and profile of deviantArt, including Jark's termination. (and refuses to refer to Spyed as CEO or Co-Founder, interestingly)
  - Interesting Screenies from Devoit - a bit controversial in comments, but the two screenshots included are striking in information.

And the rest of you;
  - i am a busy person, but deviantART has been my home on the internet for nearing 5 years now, i'm one of the longest standings members, and despite coming close to being banned, still support this place.
  - as one of the oldest members of deviantART, i want to express my respect to everyone who is holding a side in this, even if thats a neutral or 'willfully ignorant' position. you have that right.

I Need Help With This!
  - again, i'm quite busy on a daily basis, i do a lot outside dA and try to keep up on dA, and this is around my work schedule and frequent illness, any help is appreciated, particularly info about;
    - other members / staff / former staff responses to this
    - related off-site resposnes to this.
    - any further information about this or related events.
    - past events that are of weight in this.
    - i'm listing staff as former or terminated, help me correct it to reflect the proper title!
    - your own journals of support, thoughts, etc!
    - others journal's you feel are important!
    - anything, anything at all thats related! forums, chat logs, comments, deviations, etc!
